Central Michigan races past Central Penn 125-80
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) Rayshawn Simmons had career highs of 20 points and 12 assists and seven players scored in double figures as Central Michigan raced to a 123-80 win over Central Penn on Friday.
The Chippewas (10-1) matched last season's win total and matched the 1974-75 team for the best start since the 1969-70 team went 14-1.
Central Penn (8-6), a high-scoring United States Collegiate Athletic Association team, lost to a Division I team for the fourth time this season, giving up 117, 94 and 119 points in the previous matchups. Andre Battle had 23 points and Devon Dorsey had 19.
Central Michigan shot 56.6 percent (47-83) with 16 3-pointers in coming up two points shy of matching the school record for scoring. The Chippewas had 29 assists and a 56-45 rebounding advantage.
Braylon Rayson, Austin Stewart and Chris Fowler had 14 points each. Stewart had nine rebounds and Fowler eight assists.
