Central Michigan beats Ball State 101-95 in 3OTs

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) Braylon Rayson scored a career-high 30 points, including the first 11 for Central Michigan in the third overtime as the Chippewas defeated Ball State 101-95 Wednesday night.

Rayson's spurt put Central Michigan (9-16, 2-11 Mid-American) ahead 96-89 and the Cardinals (4-20, 1-12) couldn't get closer than six after that.

CMU's Chris Fowler added 18 points and 12 assists and Austin Stewart 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Ball State's Chris Bond had the last baskets in the first two overtimes.

Blake Hibbits made three consecutive 3-pointers at the end of regulation to bring the Chippewas back from a seven-point deficit with 31 seconds left. His 3-pointer with 9 seconds tied the game.

Ball State led the entire second half, except for one brief tie, until Hibbits' run of 3s. Hibbits, who had 17 points, fouled out in the second overtime.

Bond led four Cardinals with 21 points and had 12 rebounds.
