Central Arkansas beats Army for 1st win of season

WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) Jordan Howard had 21 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals, Derreck Brooks scored 20 points with seven assists and Central Arkansas beat Army 81-76 on Sunday in the mainland Maui Jim Maui Invitational.

Army pulled to 79-76 with 25 seconds left on John Emezie's 3-pointer but Tanner Schmit sealed it at the line. It was Army's only points in the final 2:30.

Mathieu Kamba added 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists for Central Arkansas (1-3). Howard and Brooks combined to make all seven of Central Arkansas' 3-pointers and the duo had 13 of the Bears' 21 assists.

Luke Morrison had 19 points and six rebounds for Army (1-3). Matthew Wilson added 13 points and seven boards.

Army struggled early, only making three of its first 14 3-pointers but finished 12 of 36 - with five from Morrison and three from Emezie.
