Elton Frazier scored 22 points and Tomas Vazquez-Simmons added 15 as Canisius defeated Lamar 78-72 on Wednesday night.
Julius Coles added 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Golden Griffins (5-6).
Mike James scored 15 points, and Anthony Miles and Donley Minor had 12 each for the Cardinals (5-6).
Frazier's layup with 8:52 remaining gave Canisius the lead for good, 53-51.
On three occasions in the last four minutes, a Vazquez-Simmons basket gave the Griffins space when Lamar got within three points, and Canisius sealed the win by going 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the final 34 seconds.
