Julius Coles scored 20 points and Canisius defeated Niagara 69-54 on Friday night.

Canisius dominated close to the basket, outscoring Niagara in the paint 26-12 and winning the rebounding battle 37-29.

Greg Logins had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Elton Frazier and Gaby Belardo each added 11 points for the Golden Griffins (10-10, 4-6 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). It was only the fourth win in the past 17 games in the series for Canisius.

Leading 54-49 with 4:54 to play, the Golden Griffins put the game away with a 13-0 run over the next 4 minutes.

Marvin Jordan had a career-high 23 points and Anthony Nelson added 19 for the Purple Eagles (4-18, 1-9), who have lost five in a row and 11 of their past 12.

Niagara shot only 31.9 percent from the field (15 of 47) after entering the game ranked No. 342 among 345 NCAA Division I men's teams at 36.6 percent.
