Campbell eases to 97-58 victory over Barber-Scotia

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) D.J. Mason scored 20 points, pulled down nine rebounds and blocked three shots to lead Campbell to a 97-58 season-opening victory over Barber-Scotia on Friday night.

Rod Days had 18 points and Nehemiah Mabson added 14 for the Camels. Campbell, which never trailed, jumped to a 43-24 halftime advantage and coasted to the win.

Shaquille Wilson led Barber-Scotia with 16 points and nine rebounds. Chris Calvan contributed 14 points and Tristan Baxter added 12.

The Camels hit 39 of 71 field goal attempts while limiting the Sabers to 33.8% from the field. Campbell also won the battle under the boards on both ends, pulling down 48 rebounds to 32 for the Sabers, and scoring 58 points in the paint while limiting Barber-Scotia to 26 points.

Campbell made 17 of its first 23 shots in the second half.
