Cal State Bakersfield holds off Utah Valley 78-74

OREM, Utah (AP) Damiyne Durham sank five 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead Cal State Bakersfield to a 78-74 win over Utah Valley on Saturday night.

Aly Ahmed and Jaylin Airington added 12 points apiece for Bakersfield (15-7, 5-2 Western Athletic Conference) and Kevin Mays had 11 with nine rebounds.

The Roadrunners led by as many as nine points in the second half before Utah Valley (9-13, 3-4) closed the gap, pulling to within a point on Marcel Davis' jumper to make it 62-61 with 7:22 left.

Mays then got a bucket at the other end to spark a 7-0 run but Utah Valley closed in again, trimming it to 76-74 with 14 seconds left on Ivory Young's 3-pointer. Airington sealed the win with a pair of free throws.

Young finished with a career-high 27 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Utah Valley. Jaden Jackson added 13 points.
