Cal State Bakersfield beats Delaware 70-52

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) Aly Ahmed scored 19 points and blocked four shots, making his presence felt underneath as Cal State Bakersfield extended Delaware's West Coast road woes 70-52 Sunday night.

Ahmed, a 6-foot-9 junior from Egypt, added nine rebounds and was joined in double figures by Cortez Conners with 14 points. The Roadrunners (1-4) out-rebounded Delaware (0-3) 45-27 - including 31 defensive boards - as Delaware made only 12 baskets.

The Blue Hens are starting 0-3 for the first time since 2007. This season's top scorer Cazmon Hayes had 12 points but was 0-for-1 after halftime.

The Roadrunners, up 34-28 at halftime, opened on an 8-0 run after the break as Delaware went scoreless for 5:31, missing its first nine shots.

Delaware's Devonne Pinkard notched his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kory Holden added 10 points

Delaware lost to Cal Poly Friday and concludes its California visit at Stanford Tuesday.
