FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Michael Bolden made 5 of 8 from 3-point range and finished with 20 points in Cal Poly's 71-57 victory over IPFW on Tuesday night.
Cal Poly (7-5) never trailed after scoring 13 straight in the opening minutes and held a double-digit lead throughout the second half, leading by as many as 21.
IPFW (7-6) rallied to within 11 with 5:39 left but would get no closer.
David Nwaba had 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists. His layup with 5:36 left in the first half capped a 12-2 run that put the Mustangs in control for good at 25-14.
Ridge Shipley added 11 points and Brian Bennett 10.
Mo Evans had 15 points and Steve Forbes had 12 to lead the Mastodons. IPFW closed to 59-48 with a 12-2 run but ran out of steam when Nwaba and Brian Bennett made back-to-back jumpers for Cal Poly.
