David Hanson notched a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, and Amaurys Fermin added 17 points as Cal Poly held on to beat Hope International 67-61 Thursday night.

Cal Poly (9-4) jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the game's first five minutes and led 36-27 at halftime, but endured a second-half letdown in which Hope International (8-1) shot 57.1 percent from 3-point range and held the Mustangs to 39.3 percent shooting from the floor.

Hope International got to within three, trailing 64-61 with 1:33 remaining, on a 3-pointer by Matt Green, but finished 0 for 4 down the stretch and three free throw makes by Cal Poly sealed the Royals' loss.

Hope International was led in scoring by Green's 18 points. Jeremy Kilgore added 12 in a losing effort.
