BYU and Florida have set an NCAA tournament single-game record with 71 3-point attempts, breaking the mark of 70 set by Drake and Western Kentucky in 2008.

Neither the Cougars nor the Gators shot particularly well from 3-point range, but Florida was slightly better in its 83-74 overtime victory in the round of 16 on Thursday night.

BYU was 10 of 37 (27 percent), with top scorer Jimmer Fredette hitting 3 of 15 attempts from long range.

Florida made 11 of its 34 3-point shots (32.4 percent). Kenny Boynton, the Gators' second-leading scorer with 17 points, attempted 13 3s, hitting four. Chandler Parsons, who had 16 points, was 3 of 10 from deep.
