Matt Howard had 29 points and 16 rebounds as Butler held off a late rally by Wisconsin-Green Bay to win 81-75 Friday night.

Shelvin Mack scored 14 points and Andrew Smith 12 for the Bulldogs (14-6, 6-2 Horizon League).

Steve Baker hit 4 3-pointers among his 20 points for the Phoenix (10-10, 4-4), whose four-game winning streak ended. Rahmon Fletcher added 18 points and Bryquis Perine 11.

Both teams shot well, Butler hitting 50.9 percent (27 of 53) and Wisconsin-Green Bay 48.3 percent (29 of 60).

Butler trailed 22-13 but surged ahead for good at 28-27 when Mack scored with 3:30 left in the first half. The Bulldogs pushed their advantage to 21 at 68-47 with 9:42 to go.

The Phoenix cut the deficit to 74-70 with 1:53 left, and a 3-pointer by Baker trimmed it to 78-75 with 41 seconds to play. But Butler held on.
