Brown pulls away to beat Prairie View 81-71

LAS VEGAS (AP) Leland King scored 17 points and Steven Spieth added 16 to lead Brown in an 81-71 victory over Prairie View in the Las Vegas Invitational on Friday.

King was 6 of 10 from the floor and made all five at the line. JR Hobbie added 12 points and Rafael Maia chipped in 11 for the Bears (2-5).

Brown held a one-point lead at the half but pulled away in the second, finishing at 56-percent shooting from the field and 82.6 percent (19 of 23) from the line. The Panthers were just 10 of 21 on free throws.

Tre Hagood finished with 23 points for Prairie View (0-7), John Brisco added 16, and Reggis Onwukamuche chipped in 12. Hagood had four steals as the Panthers combined for 16, compared to three steals for Brown.

The Bears snapped a five-game losing streak with the win.
