Boston University holds off New Hampshire 78-74
BOSTON (AP) Eric Fanning scored 18 points, Kyle Foreman added 15 and Boston University beat New Hampshire 78-74 on Monday night.
The Terriers (6-6) gave away most of their 13-point, second-half lead when New Hampshire (7-5) closed within 74-72 on Ronnel Jordan's basket with 57 seconds left.
BU's John Papale and the Wildcats' Jacoby Armstrong traded baskets to keep the Terriers' lead at two, and then Fanning and Dylan Haines made each made 1 of 2 free throws for BU to close it out.
Papale added 13 points for the Terriers, who never trailed in the second half and had their largest lead 62-49 on Papale's 3-pointer with 9:26 left. They still led 73-64 with 2:08 before New Hampshire nearly closed the deficit with an 8-1 run.
Jordan scored 16 for the Wildcats. Daniel Dion added 13, Armstrong and Jaleen Smith each had 11, and Tanner Leissner scored 10.
