Maurice Watson Jr. scored 15 points and D.J. Irving 14 as Boston University made its first win of the season a lopsided one, 74-44 over Coastal Carolina in a nonconference game Wednesday night.

Two free throws and a jumper by Irving started an 11-1 run that put the Terriers (1-5) in front, 31-15, with 1:27 left until halftime. Irving scored 10 points in the second half, when Boston University's lead grew to as many as 35 points, 73-38, with 2:51 remaining.

The Terriers held Anthony Raffa of the Chanticleers (2-4), who came in as the leading scorer in Division I at 26.0 points per game, to eight points, including just two in the first half.

Boston University shot 55.6 percent (15 of 27) in the second half and 50 percent (25 of 50) overall. Coastal Carolina shot 34.0 percent (18 of 53) and was below 35 percent in each half.
