D.J. Irving scored 21 points and dished out eight assists, and Darryl Partin had 20 points to help Boston University overcome an 11-point deficit to beat Rhode Island 70-64 on Saturday.

The Terriers (1-4) trailed 45-34 with 15:45 left in the second half when Rhode Island's Jamal Wilson made two free throws. But Boston University outscored the Rams 18-6 over the next six minutes to pull ahead by one point on Irving's jumper.

Boston University did not surrender the lead again, pushing its margin to nine points late in the game.

Rhode Island (1-4) struggled to hold its lead and keep pace with the Terriers due to poor shooting in the second half. The Rams shot nearly 47 percent (15-32) from floor in the first half, but 31 percent (9-29) after halftime.

Orion Outerbridge led Rhode Island with 16 points, and Nikola Malesevic added 15 points.
