Binghamton 62, Colgate 60
Greer Wright scored 27 points, including the final nine of the game for Binghamton in its 62-60 victory over Colgate on Saturday night in both teams' opener.
Wright scored 20 of his points in the second half, which featured 13 lead changes. His six free throws in a 1:08 span turned a one-point Colgate lead into a 59-54 Bearcats advantage with 4:02 remaining.
After the Raiders closed to within a point, 61-60, on Yaw Gyawu's dunk with 52 seconds left, Wright scored Binghamton's final point by making 1 of 2 free throws with 14 seconds left.
Gyawu, who led Colgate with 20 points, missed a layup at the 0:02 mark. The rebound came out to Mitch Rolls, but his 3-point try missed as time expired.
Mike Venezia, who missed last season because of injury after leading Colgate in scoring two seasons ago, had a rough shooting night, hitting 2 of 11 for four points.
