Best Fans In The Nation?
Does your team have the best fans in the country? It's time to prove it.
While there might not be an NCAA Tournament this year, we're bringing you a 68-team bracket for college basketball — only this time around, you'll be the one determining the winners.
It's the first ever FOX Sports Ultimate Fan Bracket: College Basketball Edition, and the field was revealed in an FS1 special on Saturday night, hosted by Mark Titus and Tate Frazier.
There are far more than bragging rights on the line in this competition, however. The winner of our Ultimate Fan Bracket will get to place a billboard in their rivals' city, rubbing the victory in for good measure.
Here's how the bracket works:
We started with 32 automatic bids, just like the NCAA Tournament, for the most followed men's college basketball twitter account from each conference. Thirty-two at-large bids went to the next 32 most-followed teams in college basketball, and four at-large bids went to the four highest-rated teams in net ranking that weren't already in the field.
The teams were seeded based on Twitter followings, then placed in regions to rig potential matchups, make sure Arizona is eliminated in the Elite Eight, and give Duke the easiest path to a title.
We're kidding. Kind of.
All of the voting will take place on the CBB on FOX Twitter account, via polls, with the tournament unfolding over the next three weeks; two rounds will take place each week, with a champion crowned on April 27.
So how did the bracket shake out? Well, here are your No. 1 seeds:
And here are your regions. We'll start in the South, where the Blue Devils are your overall No. 1 seed with over 2.2 million Twitter followers:
In the Midwest, two of America's college basketball sweethearts will look to play spoiler once again, in Loyola and UMBC:
The East region offers a potential battle of North Carolina in the second round between the Tar Heels and North Carolina State, while Titus has his eyes on the Auburn Tigers as a 10 seed as an upset lock:
Last but certainly not least is the West region, where Dayton and Iowa square off in Round 1 in a Luka Garza vs. Obi Toppin proxy battle. And with that, the bracket is set!
Round One begins Monday on the CBB on FOX Twitter account, but first, well, it's the First Four:
