Belmont beats Western Kentucky 90-69

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Evan Brads Scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Belmont to a 90-69 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday night.

Brads was 12 of 17 from the field for the Bruins (1-1) and had four assists. Nick Smith added 18 points and Austin Luke had 16 points with nine assists and four rebounds. The team averaged 58 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free throw line.

Belmont trailed 21-10 midway through the first period when Kevin McClain sank a 3-pointer that sparked a 26-13 surge that put the Bruins on top 36-34 with 3:15 to go in the half. They led 42-39 at the break and never trailed in the second half.

Justin Johnson scored 17 points and was 7 of 11 from the field for the Hilltoppers (2-1). Que Johnson added 14 points.
