Beech leads North Florida over Eastern Michigan 82-77

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) Beau Beech made five 3-pointers and scored 23 points and North Florida defeated Eastern Michigan 82-77 on Saturday.

Eastern Michigan scored six straight points, including four by James Thompson IV for a 77-75 lead with 1:43 remaining. Beech gave the lead back to Ospreys with a 3- pointer, and a jumper from Chris Davenport made it 80-77 with 35 seconds left. North Florida missed a free throw but Willie Mangum was just short on a straightaway 3-pointer before North Florida added a basket at the buzzer.

North Florida came in as nation's leader in made 3-pointers and added 11 more in shooting 53 percent overall. Davenport finished with 10 rebounds and 15 points.

The Ospreys (11-6) won on the road for the first time in five games and set an all-divisions school record for nonconference wins.

Thompson led the Eagles (8-5) with 18 points. Brandon Nazione had 10 rebounds along with 10 points.
