Ayers, Bucknell defeat Colgate 79-68

HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) Cameron Ayers scored 21 points, making 8 of 14 from the field, and Ben Brackney scored 11 with eight rebounds in leading Bucknell to a 79-68 victory over Colgate on Saturday.

Colgate jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first half but the Bison quickly erased that deficit capped by a 3-pointer from Chris Haas in taking a 15-9 lead. Bucknell never trailed for the remainder of the game and built a 39-24 lead at the break.

Colgate drew to within seven points, 43-36, with 14 minutes remaining but the Bison consistently answered the Raider's comeback attempts and maintained a double-digit lead most of the second period.

With the victory, Bucknell (10-11, 5-5 Patriot League) has won 10 straight against Colgate (8-13, 2-8), evening their conference record at 5-5.

Murphy Burnatowski put up good numbers for Colgate scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds.
