Appalachian State rolls to 116-57 win over NAIA Montreat

BOONE, N.C. (AP) Ronshad Shabazz scored 17 points and Appalachian State cruised to a 116-57 win over Montreat, a nearby NAIA school, 116-57 on Sunday.

Griffin Kinney added 11 points and four players had 10 for the Mountaineers (3-5), who shot 61 percent (40 of 66), including 16 of 33 3-pointers, and made 20 of 30 free throws.

Montreat (8-2) scored the first five points of the game but less than six minutes in Appalachian State had a double-figure lead. The Mountaineers added a 14-0 run and led 61-30 at halftime.

Jake Wilson had six blocks and Patrick Good had six of Appalachian State's 30 assists, the most since the two teams played in January of 2016. The 2- and 3-point baskets and shooting percentages for both are season highs.

David Everage had 12 points for the Cavaliers, which in three previous games with the Mountaineers had lost by a total of 77 points.
