Donald Sims scored 24 points to become Appalachian State's career scoring leader as the Mountaineers defeated Milligan 91-71 on Thursday night.
Sims has 1,803 points, surpassing Don King (1958-61), who scored 1,794. Sims was 7 of 13 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line.
Jeremi Booth scored 25 points to lead Appalachian State (5-7), which snapped a three-game skid.
Andre Peterson added 20 for the Mountaineers, who shot 50 percent from the field (32 of 64), and 41.7 percent from 3-point range (10 of 24). They also had a 47-32 rebounding edge.
Appalachian State led 43-36 at halftime, then opened the second half with an 8-0 run to push the lead into double figures for good.
Cordero Seymour led the NAIA Buffaloes (3-9) with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Justin Sylvester had 15 and Hudson Fricke 14 for Milligan, which shot 42.9 percent (24 of 56).
