Jamaal Trice and Omar Carter scored 19 points each and Appalachian State held off Tennessee Tech 68-63 on Saturday night.

The Golden Eagles, who trailed by as many as nine with 5:18 remaining, cut it to two, 65-63, on Jud Dillard's three-point play with 47 seconds left.

Isaac Butts made one of his two free throws for the Mountaineers (2-1) with 19 seconds left, before Tennessee Tech got the ball back. Zac Swansey then missed a 3-pointer for the Golden Eagles with 4 seconds to play.

Rodney Milum made both of his free throws when Appalachian State got the ball back for the final margin.

Milum finished with 13 points for the Mountaineers, who shot 51.9 percent for the game (14 of 27), including going 8 of 16 from 3-point range.

Dillard finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Kevin Murphy scored 28 points for the Golden Eagles (1-2).
