Michigan State prospect Dwaun Anderson has chosen not to enroll this fall and won't be on the basketball team this season.
The school announced the decision Friday. Anderson says in a statement he wants to get his personal issues relating to the death of his mother this spring in order before moving on to the next stage of his life.
Michigan State coach Tom Izzo says he will support Anderson through the process.
The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 20 points, six rebounds and four assists last season, leading Suttons Bay High School to a 25-2 record and the Michigan Class C state finals. He was named Mr. Basketball in March.
