TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Ray Anderson has been rejuvenated by returning to campus life.

A former NFL executive, he became Arizona State's athletic director in January, charged with leading the program at a time when university and college athletics are undergoing huge changes.

Despite no previous experience in college athletics, he's handled it well, helping ASU navigate its way through a massive construction project, a renovation to the football stadium and overseeing the many smaller sports.

Anderson's biggest adjustment, though, has come as he has walked across campus and attended sporting events in Tempe.

Arizona State's students, faculty and fans have all enthusiastically welcomed Anderson during his four months on the job and he has fed off the energy, giving the university an extra infusion of vigor as it heads toward the future.
