Nick Hendra had 18 points and a career-high tying seven assists to lead American University over Army 65-59 on Wednesday night.

Stephen Lumpkins added 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles (18-8, 8-3 Patriot League), whose win, coupled with Lehigh's 94-90 overtime loss to Colgate, secured a top-four seed in the Patriot League Tournament. American has finished in the top four of the regular season conference standings each year since joining the league in 2001-02 and has advanced to the tournament semifinals every year.

The Eagles led by as many as 11, 56-43, on Hendra's jumper with 6:49 to play. Army then used a 14-4 run to get to 60-59 with 2:26 left. American sealed it with five straight points for the Eagles' fourth win in their last five games.

Troy Brewer had 12 points and Vlad Moldoveanu 11 for American.

Jeremy Hence led Army (11-15, 3-8) with 17 points.
