Vlad Moldoveanu scored 23 points, including 13 from the foul line, and American held on to defeat Holy Cross 64-60 Sunday.

Stephen Lumpkins added 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Eagles (19-8, 9-3 Patriot League), who won their third straight and clinched the second seed with two games to play before the conference tournament. Bucknell's 77-69 victory Sunday at Colgate eliminates the Eagles from contention for the top seed.

American led the entire first half and for the early stages of the second, but was challenged repeatedly in the game's final minutes before securing the regular season sweep. After the Crusaders tied it at 56, Troy Brewer hit a shot-clock beating leaner to give American the lead for good with 1:03 left.

Mike Cavataio scored 16 points for the Crusaders (6-20, 5-7), who fell to 0-10 in games decided by four points or fewer.
