Ambrose leads Albany over Stony Brook 58-43

Tim Ambrose scored 22 points to lead Albany over Stony Brook 58-43 on Monday night.

Ambrose was 7 of 12 from the field and 5 of 5 from the free-throw line as the Great Danes (13-15, 7-7 America East Conference) shot 84.6 percent from the line (11 of 13).

Albany was also 20 of 48 from the field, making only three more field goals than the Seawolves (11-15, 6-7), but Stony Brook was just 5 of 8 from the foul line.

The Great Danes led 34-24 after an 11-2 run to open the second half. Ambrose's 3 capped the spurt with 13:38 to play. The Seawolves cut it to seven, 37-30, but Albany pulled away with an 11-2 run.

Luke Devlin had 11 rebounds for Albany.

The Great Danes turned it over 14 times, leading to 17 Stony Brook points, but held the Seawolves to 30.9 percent from the field (17 of 55).

Leonard Hayes led Stony Brook with 18 points.
