Alcorn State beats Point University 106-101, 2OT
Kendrick McDonald scored 25 points and Alcorn State defeated Point University 106-101 in double overtime Tuesday night.
The Braves (2-7) trailed 41-40 at halftime and shot 55.2 percent from the field in the second half (16 of 29) to tie it at 83 at the end of regulation. In the two overtime periods Alcorn State continued to shoot well, going 7 of 13 (53.8 percent), while Point University shot 29.4 percent (5 of 17).
Twann Oakley had 22 points and 11 rebounds and Michael Starks had 16 points and 14 rebounds, including nine offensive. JaMichael Hawkins chipped in 14 points and Jarvis Moore 11 for the Braves, who snapped a seven-game losing streak.
It's the first win for Alcorn State since beating Blue Mountain College, also of the NAIA, 76-39 in its last home game Nov. 12.
Shasta Scott had 29 points and Kadeem White 22 for Point University.
