Alabama starting guard Ricky Tarrant will miss the rest of the season with leg injuries.

Crimson Tide coach Anthony Grant said Thursday in a news release that Tarrant sustained a ruptured plantar fascia against Florida on Jan. 27. He missed the past eight games.

Tarrant, Alabama's No. 2 scorer, also requires surgery on his left knee. Doctors had initially planned to fix what Alabama described as a bony prominence in the knee during the offseason. But Grant says Tarrant's foot injury was not healing rapidly enough for him to play in the next few weeks.

The Tulane transfer was averaging 13.1 points per game. He played in 19 games and started 13.

Grant says forward Shannon Hale is doubtful for Saturday's game at Vanderbilt with a foot injury.
