MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Terrance LaFlore scored 17 points and Bobby Brown added 16 points and 11 rebounds off the bench and Alabama State knocked Jackson State out of a tie for second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference with a 71-54 win Thursday night.

The Tigers, who had their four-game win streak snapped, entered the game tied with Alcorn State, two games behind conference-leading Texas Southern.

The Hornets (13-16, 8-9) built a 10-point lead in the first half and padded it down the stretch.

Glenn Hollaway grabbed a dozen rebounds to lead Alabama State, which was 24 of 55 from the field on its home floor.

The Tigers were led by Raeford Worsham, who scored 16 points, but was the lone scorer to reach double figures.

Jackson State remains in search of its 18th regular season win, a mark it has not reached in the last three seasons and remains winless at Alabama State's Acadome.
