Phillip Crawford scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Alabama State pulled away from Alcorn State 78-63 on Saturday night to split the season series.

Crawford recorded his third double-double of the season for the Hornets (10-15, 7-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference).

Ryan Watts finished with 19 points, Ivory White had 11 and Tramaine Butler added 10 for Alabama State, which has won two straight games.

Alabama State outscored the Braves 26-16 over the final 10 minutes to put the game out of reach.

Crawford made 11 of 15 field goal attempts to pace a 46.4 percent (26 of 56) field goal shooting effort for the Hornets. They made 19 of 34 free throw attempts while Alcorn State attempted 15, making 13.

Ian Francis scored 14 points, Martrevious Sanders had 12 and Kendrick McDonald added 10 for the Braves (8-18, 5-9), who lost two of their last three.
