Alabama St. 54, Oakwood 49
Ivory White posted his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead Alabama State to a 54-49 victory over Oakwood University on Thursday night, snapping a five-game losing streak.
The Hornets (2-8) fell behind 12-0, then rallied to tie the game at 22 at the half.
Alabama State led the entire second half and by as many as eight points twice, the last time with 1:34 to go. The Ambassadors, a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), pulled within four points, but could get no closer.
The Hornets shot 32.6 percent from the field (15 of 46), compared to 24.6 percent (16 of 65) for Oakwood (6-8).
The cold shooting extended to the free-throw line, where Alabama State was 23 of 46 and the Ambassadors were 15 of 32.
Kenderek Washington added 12 points for Alabama State.
Ronald Bushner led Oakwood with 15 points.
