Zeke Marshall scored 21 points to help Akron beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 87-64 Thursday night, snapping a three-game losing streak for the Zips.

Akron (3-5) took an 11-4 lead behind a Zeke Marshall jumper, which sparked a 19-9 run and gave the Zips a 30-13 lead with 1:44 to play in the first half. Marshall, who scored 10 points in the first half, capped the run with two free throws.

Marshall, Akron's all-time blocks leader, also added seven blocks, including four during the first-half run.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-6) pulled within 13, 38-25, after Clay Johnson knocked down a 3-pointer. But the Zips went on another run, this time 30-9, to take a 68-34 lead with 8:35 left to play.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff struggled shooting from 3-point range, hitting only 25 percent (4 of 16), including 2 of 11 in the first half.

Savalace Townsend led the Golden Lions with 23 points.
