Nick Harney scored 21 points and Akron defeated Kent State 84-75 on Saturday night in a rematch of last season's Mid-American Conference tournament championship game.

Harney made 10 of 12 field goal attempts and helped the Zips shoot 55.6 percent (35 of 63) from the field.

Chauncey Gilliam added 11 points and Brian Walsh had 10 for Akron (12-7, 4-1), which has won eight of its past nine conference games.

Akron overcame a 42-34 halftime deficit. Kent Sate led 55-46 early in the second half before the Zips went on a 12-0 run to take the lead for good at 58-55 on a 3-pointer by Nikola Cvetinovic with 11:02 remaining. The Zips made 21 of 34 field goal attempts in the second half and scored 12 points off eight Kent State turnovers.

Randal Holt scored 27 points and Justin Greene added 11 for the Golden Flashes (12-6, 2-3).
