Nikola Cvetinovic scored 22 points and Akron beat Buffalo 69-60 on Saturday night.
Brett McKnight finished with 14 points for the Zips (19-10, 9-5 Mid-American Conference), who won their seventh straight game.
Akron went into halftime with a 35-34 lead, then opened the second half with seven straight points, capped by Cvetinovic's layup with 17:15 left. Cvetinovic went 6 of 10 from the field and made 10 of his 11 free throw attempts, helping the Zips led by as many as 12.
Akron was consistent from the field in the second half, making 52.4 percent (11 of 21) of its shots and knocked down six 3-pointers. Buffalo struggled after halftime, shooting 35.7 percent (10 of 28).
The Bulls (16-11, 7-7) cut the lead to 55-53 with 8:24 remaining, but Buffalo was unable to pull closer.
Javon McCrea led Buffalo with 23 points and Zach Filzen added 14.
