Air Force turns back NAIA Johnson & Wales 83-53
Air Force hit a season-high 13 3-pointers and had four players in double figures in an 83-53 rout of NAIA opponent Johnson & Wales on Tuesday night.
Starters Mike Fitzgerald and Todd Fletcher scored 11 points apiece, with freshman Justin Hammonds and sophomore Chase Kammerer each adding a career-high 10 points.
The Falcons (8-4) forced 22 turnovers and held Johnson & Wales (4-14) to 31 percent shooting.
Corey Puckett led the Denver-based Wildcats (4-14) with 14 points, and Chris O'Neal chipped in 13.
The Falcons scored the game's first 17 points and hit their first five 3-pointers en route to a 34-3 lead. Air Force made nine of its first 14 shots, while the Wildcats were just 1 for 7 to begin the game.
Air Force was 10 for 17 (58.8 percent) from 3-point range in the first half and led 50-18 at the break.
