Wu seeks third term as international boxing federation head
C.K. Wu is seeking a third term as president of amateur boxing's international federation.
The International Boxing Association, or AIBA, said Friday that Wu sent a letter to national federations announcing his candidacy for another four-term term.
Wu, a Taiwanese architect who turns 68 next month, has headed AIBA since 2006. He was re-elected to a second term in 2010.
The election will take place at the AIBA congress on Nov. 14 in Jeju, South Korea.
Wu is credited with reforming AIBA after replacing corruption-tainted Anwar Chowdhry.
One of Wu's major projects is the launch in October of an AIBA pro boxing competition. He wants AIBA to "govern all levels of boxing worldwide."
Wu ran unsuccessfully for IOC president last year in an election won by Thomas Bach.
