Gennady Golovkin recorded his 23rd straight knockout over Kell Brook in spectacular fashion. Here are the full fight video highlights.

Even though we weren’t getting the Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez fight that we deserve, it’s always a spectacle when GGG fights. To prove that he doesn’t back down from any challenge, he faced Kell Brook in enemy territory.

Golovkin is usually revered wherever he goes, but on this occasion, 20,000 people wanted to see him get knocked out. But Golovkin doesn’t get nervous, and the more pressure that’s put on him, the better he performs.

Here’s a look at how the fight played out in its entirety:

Round 1

Just a minute into this contest, and Golovkin is already getting Brook backed into a corner. He caught him clean with a body shot. But just when it seemed like he would have his way, Brook came back with some good combinations that landed. He’s not afraid to go shot-for-shot with GGG.

Golovkin leads 10-9

Round 2

Golovkin is swinging heavily, looking for his trademark power shot. But going for the knockout punch this early is never good, and Brook is doing a good job of avoiding it. Rather than back into a corner like his previous opponents, Brook is standing in the center and trading. Brook’s hand speed is evident, as he lands some clean uppercuts on his opponent.

19-19

Round 3

Three rounds in, and Golovkin gets his first knockdown of the night. But Brook doesn’t need a count to get back up, and he starts trading with him right away. The commentators made a comparison to Hagler vs. Hearns, and it’s hard to disagree. This is spectacular action.

Golovkin leads 29-28

Round 4

If Golovkin is fazed by Brook’s shots, he’s not showing it. Brook is landing some quality punches, but GGG keeps nodding and laughing them off. And every time he gets hit, he keeps coming forward rather than backing away. One thing that’s worth watching is Kell Brook’s right eye. It’s gotten really swollen over the course of the fight, and it could lead him to wilt down the stretch.

Golovkin wins 39-37

Round 5

This is Golovkin’s most aggressive round yet. He’s landing combinations at will while keeping Brook up against the ropes. Brook seems okay with taking the punishment, but his corner isn’t. Just before the one minute mark, Brook’s corner starts waving the towel, and GGG retains his belts.

Golovkin wins by TKO

In the end, you have to applaud Brook for taking such a bold move. Much like his compatriot Amir Khan, he was able to gain respect after a loss. Golovkin, meanwhile, could go down as an all-time great when his career is done. It’s why we always watch his fights, even when the result seems inevitable.

Meanwhile, this fight is a bad look for Canelo Alvarez. He keeps putting off this fight because he states that he has trouble making 160 pounds, but GGG just fought a welterweight who weighed in heavier than him. At the same time, Canelo decided to fight Liam Smith in Cowboys Stadium of all places.

The more time passes, the more people will clamor for Canelo vs. GGG. He’s clearly ready, but is his Mexican counterpart?
