Froch signs new promotional deal
WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (27-1, 20 KOs), who recently split with promoter Mick Hennessy, has signed a five-fight deal with Matchroom Sport, the UK-based promotional firm that recently signed welterweight prospect Kell Brook as well as middleweight contender Darren Barker to exclusive deals.
Froch will next be taking on Glen Johnson on June 4 in the semifinal of the Super Six World Boxing Classic in Atlantic City, NJ.
The five-fight deal will take the fighter from Nottingham through the rest of the Super Six tournament as well as two or three bouts after the competition.
The signing of Froch makes Matchroom Sports, headed by Barry and Eddie Hearn, a legitimate market share threat to Frank Warren’s UK-dominating promotional company, especially if the rumored Froch-Joe Calzaghe mega-fight is anything more than just a rumor.
