Frankfurt fans protest controversial Monday night fixtures by throwing tennis balls into the stadium.

[CROWD YELLING] ANNOUNCER 1: This might take a minute or two.

ANNOUNCER 2: I think-- [INAUDIBLE] by no means condoning this-- at least it's tennis balls. They're not throwing something that's going to hurt the players. They're obviously well prepared in advance for this. They knew what they were going to do. They are throwing streamers and toilet paper onto the back of the net and--

ANNOUNCER 1: All a bit unnecessary now. And there doesn't seem to be any violence.

ANNOUNCER 2: And as I say, the fact that they've chosen tennis balls, which certainly won't do any damage when they're lobbed into the air. They're not being smashed by tennis rackets close to the net, as it were, so it's just a hindrance.

ANNOUNCER 1: Have we got any reasons why? Protest?

ANNOUNCER 2: Well, as I say, it's the first Monday night game in nearly two years. It's not what they expect in Germany, [INAUDIBLE]. They're used to it in England. Games are moved, obviously, to Sundays and Saturday evenings and times like that in Germany. But Monday night is not a regular spot for football in Germany.

ANNOUNCER 1: At least they kept those gates closed behind the goal.

ANNOUNCER 2: We're wondering if it might be Werner that might [INAUDIBLE]. Oh, now every time they get rid of the first several hundred tennis balls, on comes a few hundred more.
