Out for UCL opener Nieuwkoop is out for Thursday's match against Leverkusen after going down injured over the weekend and not training Wednesday, according to his club.

Impact Nieuwkoop will be forced out for the first UCL match of the campaign, having been dealt an unfortunate hand after going down right before the match. He has started in three of the club's five matches this season, so this will be a somewhat significant loss. He will have two weeks to recover before their next UCL match, giving him a solid amount of time to recover until then.

At this point, Nieuwkoop should be considered a doubt, at best, for the Group Stage finale versus Celtic on Dec. 13. Gernot Trauner will likely return to the backline with Nieuwkoop sidelined.
