Logan Thompson - Facing Carolina Tuesday Thompson will guard the home goal in Tuesday's clash against the Hurricanes, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.
Impact Thompson will look to bounce back after his worst start of the season Sunday, where he yielded five goals in his lone loss of the year. Overall, the 29-year-old netminder has a 3-1-0 record, a 2.77 GAA and a .902 save percentage across four appearances to begin the new season. He'll get his second start of the season against the Hurricanes on Tuesday after stopping 31 shots against them in a 5-2 victory Oct. 2. He's a strong start in all fantasy formats moving forward.

Pierre-Luc Dubois - Ruled out Tuesday Dubois (illness) won't travel with the team for Tuesday's clash with the Hurricanes, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.
Impact With the Caps heading into a back-to-back, it's possible Dubois will be healthy in time to face the Canadiens on Wednesday. Without the veteran center in the lineup, Ilya Protas looks set to feature on the top line with Alex Ovechkin. Through four games this year, Dubois has notched one goal and three assists, but he has zero power-play points despite averaging 2:57 of ice time with the man advantage.

Rasmus Sandin - Shifts to LTIR Sandin (knee) was placed on long-term injured reserve Monday.
Impact Sandin is still recovering from knee surgery, and moving to LTIR won't impact his timeline. After having his right ACL repaired in late April, he received a timetable of 6-9 months for his recovery. Sandin registered five goals, 29 points, 90 shots on net, 127 blocked shots and 88 hits in 73 games for Washington during the 2025-26 regular season.
OCTOBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Matt Roy - Placed on injured reserve Roy (lower body) was designated for injured reserve Monday.
Impact Roy has already missed enough time to be eligible to come off injured reserve at any point, but the fact that he hasn't been cleared for contact points to him missing at least the upcoming back-to-back against Carolina and Montreal on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. While Dylan McIlrath has been playing in Roy's stead, the Caps called up Justin Holl, who could find himself in the lineup instead.
OCTOBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Justin Holl - Called up by Washington Holl was recalled from AHL Hershey on Monday.
Impact Holl was sent to the minors ahead of the regular season, but he'll rejoin the NHL club to provide additional depth after Matt Roy (lower body) was placed on injured reserve and Rasmus Sandin (knee) was placed on long-term injured reserve. Holl made nine regular-season appearances with the Blues last year and recorded a goal, an assist, six PIM, five hits and five blocked shots while averaging 15:40 of ice time.

Boone Jenner - Tallies again Sunday Jenner scored a goal on five shots, added six hits and blocked two shots in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Kraken.
Impact Jenner has scored in consecutive contests. While he's playing in a fourth-line role, he's making decent all-around contributions. The 33-year-old forward has two goals, one assist, 16 shots on net, eight hits, nine blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over five outings this season. If he can play around a 40-point pace, he'll have some upside as a depth option in fantasy.
OCTOBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Jordan Kyrou - Gets first goal for new team Kyrou scored a goal in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Kraken.
Impact Kyrou's tenure with the Capitals has gotten off to a middling start. He's played on the third line, earning two points, five shots on net and a minus-6 rating over his first five contests. Kyrou may simply be a victim to the numbers game -- the Capitals' top nine is fairly strong, making competition for ice time tough. The winger had 46 points in 72 regular-season games last year, but he had logged at least 67 points in the previous four campaigns, so he's definitely capable of more offense.
OCTOBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Alex Ovechkin - Opens account for final season Ovechkin scored a goal on three shots and added three hits in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Kraken.
Impact The goal was Ovechkin's first tally of his final season. The 41-year-old winger saw a season-high 16:56 of ice time -- his minutes had been managed early on since he missed the preseason slate due to a lower-body injury. He's at two points, eight shots on net, 10 hits and a plus-1 rating over five appearances. While nominally still on the top line, the depth of the Capitals' offense will likely lead to Ovechkin seeing less ice time than usual in 2026-27.
OCTOBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Logan Thompson - Yields five goals in loss Thompson stopped 22 of 27 shots in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Kraken.
Impact Thompson wasn't at his best in this game, and the Kraken were able to take advantage. This led to Thompson's first loss in four outings this season. He had given up a total of six goals on 85 shots over his first three starts. The 29-year-old netminder typically is one of the better goalies in the league, so this will amount to just an off performance. He'll likely split the next two games with Charlie Lindgren, as the Capitals visit the Hurricanes on Tuesday before hosting the Canadiens on Wednesday.
