Agrees to injury settlement with Rams The Rams cut McPhearson from IR with an injury settlement Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact McPhearson had been competing for a roster spot during the preseason before landing on injured reserve Aug. 24. That could have ended his campaign, but the injury settlement allows McPhearson to seek out a new contract and potentially play in 2026. The Texas Tech product was a fourth-round draft pick by Philadelphia in 2021 and played in 33 regular-season games (mostly on special teams) over his first two NFL campaigns but hasn't logged a regular-season snap since 2022.

Impact McPhearson has not played in an NFL game since 2022, when he was with the Eagles. The fourth-rounder out of Texas Tech played in 17 regular-season games that year, logging 96 defensive snaps and 358 special teams snaps. The 2025 Rams special teams unit was among the worst in the NFL, so a cornerback with a history of special teams production is a reasonable flyer for the team to take during the expanded roster period of the season.

Impact McPhearson (5-foot-11, 191 pounds) is an interesting cornerback sleeper for the Eagles after serving as the top corner on a Texas Tech squad that fielded its best pass defense in years in 2020. McPhearson intercepted four passes in 10 games last year, then went on to show springy athletic testing, logging a 40.5-inch vertical, 130-inch broad jump and good agility numbers. McPhearson's lack of reach (30 and 3/4-inch arms) and modest 4.5 40 time might imply a better fit in the slot than outside, however.
