Impact The Eagles got Shipley involved on the third play of the game, giving him the ball on a swing pass. That was the first time he'd seen the field for an offensive snap since Week 10, and it would be his final involvement of the game, as he was limited to special teams the rest of the way and never played another offensive down.

He's carried the ball a total of 19 times through 10 games this season.

Nine rushes late in blowout Shipley rushed nine times for 34 yards in Sunday's 34-6 win over the Cowboys.

Impact Shipley's carries and yards were both career highs. All nine of his rushes came in the fourth quarter with his team already up by 28 points, though, so this doesn't signal a change in his expected workload going forward.

Rushes twice in garbage time Shipley carried the ball twice for a loss of three yards in Sunday's 37-17 win over the Bengals.

Impact Shipley got the ball on both of his offensive snaps, both of which came on the Eagles' final drive with the team already up three scores. On the first play, he thought he had reached the end zone for his first career touchdown, only to have the run brought back by an offensive hold. His season totals now sit at 10 carries for 12 yards, all of which have come in garbage time over the last two weeks.

Impact Prior to Week 7, Shipley had seen the field for a total of five offensive snaps, with his only opportunities to touch the ball coming as a kick returner. After establishing a four-score lead early in the fourth quarter, the team elected to rest its starters, with both Shipley and second-string running back Kenneth Gainwell receiving a handful of opportunities. Shipley didn't do anything with his brief look to suggest that he'll be moving up the depth chart any time soon.

Impact Shipley, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft, does not appear to be a significant part of the Eagles' offensive gameplan for now, though he did at least play 17 snaps on special teams. If Saquon Barkley were to suffer an injury, Kenneth Gainwell is the more likely option to step into a starting role, having seen the field for 14 offensive snaps on Friday.

Impact Kenneth Gainwell got the start Thursday with Saquon Barkley resting, suggesting that Gainwell remains in the pole position for the top backup spot over Shipley. Once Shipley got into the game, the rookie fourth-round pick out of Clemson continued to show off his pass catching skills after catching a seven-yard touchdown in the preseason opener against Baltimore. Shipley will have one more preseason audition Aug. 24 against the Vikings in his bid to earn regular-season playing time.

Competing with Gainwell Shipley and Kenneth Gainwell split first-team reps Monday when Saquon Barkley missed practice for personal reasons, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Impact Gainwell was the first to sub in for Barkley at the start of training camp and the first to take first-team reps Monday, but it sounds like the split between him and Shipley was pretty even throughout practice. The two are competing for the second spot on the depth chart, which presumably won't entail many snaps or touches unless Barkley suffers an injury. Shipley is the upside play for fantasy as a 2024 fourth-round pick, with Gainwell already having an extensive NFL track record that suggests he's no better than mediocre as a ballcarrier. That said, Gainwell has ample experience under coach Nick Sirianni, including a history of taking snaps in clear passing situations.
