Impact Dallas is an excellent landing spot for Grier after he lost a backup quarterback battle to P.J. Walker in Carolina. The Cowboys kept Cooper Rush on the initial 53-man roster behind Dak Prescott, though multiple reporters suggested the team would look outside the organization for its in-season backup quarterback. While Grier won't automatically be the choice to fill that role, he should at least get a chance to compete in practice with Rush for No. 2 duties. The 2019 third-round pick is 26 years old.

Impact Grier, a 2019 third-round pick, wasn't able to beat out P.J. Walker for the backup gig behind Sam Darnold. The 26-year-old is coming off back-to-back impressive preseason outings, so it may be that the Panthers are hoping to bring him back via the practice squad. Of course, another team could interrupt those plans by claiming Grier off waivers.

Impact Grier played behind Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker, with the latter's 5-for-10 night for 83 passing yards most relevant as Grier competes to serve as the former's backup. Although his passing performance wasn't too different from Walker's, Grier surprised with a rare 24-yard touchdown scamper to begin the fourth quarter. After two straight impactful showings, it'll now be interesting to see whether Grier has done enough to unseat Walker for the No. 2 job ahead of Carolina's season opener against the Jets.
