Impact Conklin is expected to compete for backup snaps with Brock Wright (neck) behind Sam LaPorta (back). After recording 1,622 receiving yards across three seasons with the Jets, the 30-year-old tight end posted just seven catches for 101 yards with the Chargers in the 2025 regular season.
MARCH 13 • ROTOWIRE
Best Photos of Chargers Free Agent Tyler Conklin Tight end Tyler Conklin has recorded 81 receptions for 777 yards and 4 touchdowns in the 2026 season.
FEBRUARY 11 • CHARGERS.COM
Minimal offensive work in 2025 Conklin caught seven of 10 targets for 101 yards and rushed once for two yards across 13 regular-season games in 2025.
Impact The 30-year-old from Central Michigan was a healthy scratch in five of the Chargers' final six games this season, including the wild-card loss to the Patriots, as he slid down the depth chart following the emergence of rookie Oronde Gadsden. Conklin posted his lowest receiving-yard total since 2019 but still averaged 14.4 yards per reception, the second-highest mark of his career. Set to become a free agent this offseason, Conklin could find work with a team in need of tight end depth ahead of the 2026 campaign.
JANUARY 15 • ROTOWIRE
Healthy scratch again Conklin (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
Impact Conklin will be a healthy scratch for a third straight game. It seems like the tight end's time as a regular starter for the team is over, with rookie Oronde Gadsden taking over as the No. 1 and Will Dissley handling the remaining workload.
DECEMBER 21, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Unavailable for MNF Conklin (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday night's matchup with the Eagles, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Impact Conklin will be a healthy scratch for the first time this season after he combined to log just two offensive snaps over the team's last two games. Oronde Gadsden and Will Dissly will handle all the work at tight end against Philadelphia.
DECEMBER 9, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
One catch in win Conklin caught his lone target for 12 yards in Sunday's 25-10 win over the Steelers.
Impact Conklin's catch against the Steelers was his first since Week 5, as the veteran tight end has not been a big part of the Chargers' offensive plans since the emergence of teammate Oronde Gadsden (quadriceps). With Gadsden sidelined due to an injury suffered in the third quarter, Conklin saw an uptick in his snap share. The 30-year-old played 23 of the Chargers' 73 offensive snaps after failing to play a single offensive snap in Week 9. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Gadsden is considered day-to-day, so it appears the issue won't be long term. If he does miss time, however, Conklin and Will Dissly would likely operate as Los Angeles' top pass-catching tight ends when the Chargers visit the Jaguars in Week 11.
NOVEMBER 12, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Snap count plummets vs. Miami Conklin did not register a target during the Chargers' 29-27 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.
Impact The veteran tight end's offensive snap count dropped significantly in Week 6, due in large part to the return of Will Dissly. Conklin saw just three snaps on offense, well behind rookie fifth-rounder Oronde Gradsden (48), Tucker Fisk (27) and Dissly (26). Sunday marked the third time this season that Conklin did not record a catch and the second time he didn't register a target. The 2018 fifth-rounder's fantasy production figures to remain low unless Dissly or Gradsden were to miss time due to injury, illness or suspension.
OCTOBER 14, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Two catches in loss Conklin caught two of his three targets for 30 yards in the 27-10 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.
Impact Conklin played dramatically fewer snaps (20) than rookie Oronde Gadsden (34), but Conklin at least capitalized on the few looks his way. The Chargers are dealing with numerous injuries to the offensive line which is forcing the tight ends to block more than they typically do. The issue, which won't be resolved in the near future, is impacting all of the tight end's fantasy value.

Chargers say they need to clean up their play after 10 penalties in loss to Commanders

Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh didn’t mince words following his team’s loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday
OCTOBER 6, 2025 • Associated Press
Falling out of favor Conklin caught his only target for three yards in the 21-18 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Impact Despite Los Angeles losing another offensive lineman in Joe Alt (ankle) early, Conklin only played 12 offensive snaps, one fewer than Tucker Fisk, and significantly less than Oronde Gadsden (30). It appears that the rookie seems to have overtaken both veterans as the team's preferred move tight end, but that has come in the absence of Will Dissly, who has missed the past two games with a knee injury.
