Tyjae Spears - Totals 24 yards in Week 1 loss Spears rushed three times for 12 yards and caught two of four targets for an additional 12 yards in Sunday's 23-10 loss to the Jets.
Impact Tony Pollard narrowly out-snapped Spears 26 to 25 in the season opener, as the former out-carried Spears seven to three in what was a decidedly negative game script for the Titans. Spears out-targeted his backfield mate four to two and ran 14 routes to Pollard's seven. This looks like a pretty even split, but it'll be tough for either back to produce weekly fantasy reliability in one of the league's worst offenses with a swinging-gate offensive line.

Impact Based on preseason usage, Spears is firmly entrenched as the team's top alternative to Tony Pollard in the backfield. Spears produced 536 scrimmage yards in 2024 and 547 scrimmage yards in 2025 while filling such a role. His 838-yard rookie season in 2023 came prior to Pollard's arrival in Tennessee. Rookie fifth-round pick Nicholas Singleton didn't show anything during preseason action that would indicate he's an immediate threat to Spears' role, while Julius Chestnut is likely ticketed for a role on special teams.

Pollard is expected to lead the backfield once again, but Spears should get his fair share of touches in a prominent change-of-pace role. Impact Spears finished second in rushing yards for the Titans on the night behind Julius Chestnut, and the former showed no signs of the soreness and irritation that caused an early exit from practice on Friday. Spears has a chance to make a case for the top running back job currently held by Tony Pollard, but barring any unforeseen developments or injury, it appears likely the latter will continue relegating Spears to a complementary role to begin the 2026 season.

Impact There's no indication Spears is dealing with anything serious, but he may be held out of practice until his current soreness subsides. The 25-year-old is expected to serve as Tennessee's No. 2 RB this season, and the could be more of a "1B" to starter Tony Pollard than a pure backup. Spears has 1,048 regular-season rushing yards and 873 receiving yards through three NFL campaigns, so he has the potential to make an impact in fantasy as a dual-threat asset.

Impact Tony Pollard dominated rushing attempts for Tennessee, tallying 14 compared to Spears' three. Spears did serve as a favorite checkdown option for Brandon Allen, but that resulted in little production. Injuries and a poor offensive environment derailed Spears' third season as a pro, as his 291 rushing yards across 13 games were the fewest of his career. He'll presumably enter the final year of his contract in a backup role to Tony Pollard in 2026.
