Rookie QBs face off as Saints visit the Titans in their home finale

Both the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans are improving as the season winds to an end thanks to rookie quarterbacks

Huge day against KC Spears carried the ball 13 times for 52 yards and a touchdown and caught all five of his targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 26-9 win over Kansas City.

Impact Tony Pollard led the way in the Titans backfield with 21 carries and a third straight 100-yard game, but Spears made an impact as well as as he handled a season high in carries and touches while reaching 100 scrimmage yards for the first time in 2025, and scoring his first TD since Week 8. With the Titans' offense finally looking at least competent, Spears and Pollard could remain in something close to a timeshare over the final two weeks of the season, including a Week 17 tilt against the Saints.

Impact Spears was on the field for only 20 offensive snaps, his lowest mark since Week 5 -- his season debut. His longest gain went for 20 yards and came during garbage time in the blowout loss. Spears has been a peripheral option in the Tennessee backfield, and the Titans have shown no signs of shifting work away from Tony Pollard.

Under 50 total yards on 10 touches Spears rushed eight times for 19 yards and secured two of four targets for 28 yards in the Titans' 31-29 win over the Browns on Sunday.

Impact Spears played his usual No. 2 role behind Tony Pollard, but in what was a rare game script for Tennessee where the ground attack's opportunities weren't capped, the latter outpaced the former by 17 carries and erupted for 161 rushing yards and a pair of scores. That left Spears in a clear complementary role, although his receiving yardage total actually paced the Titans on the afternoon. Spears should continue operating as a clear No. 2 behind Pollard in a Week 15 road trip to San Francisco.

Catches six passes in loss Spears caught all six of his targets for 25 yards in the Titans' 25-3 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. He added two carries for minus-one yard.

Impact Spears' six catches tied rookie TE Gunnar Helm for the team lead, and Spears' 25 yards were four fewer than team-leader Chig Okonkwo. Spears was out-carried 10 to two by Tony Pollard, who produced rushing 60 yards on his attempts. In eight games since returning from injured reserve due to a high-ankle sprain, Spears has rushed 39 times for 158 yards and one touchdown, adding 28 catches for 173 scoreless yards on 30 targets. Spears has been a reliable check-down target for Cam Ward, but Pollard continues to handle the majority of the carries out of Tennessee's backfield.

Impact Spears was unable to get anything going on the ground, posting a season-low three rushing yards. The running back was able to set a new season high in receptions though, leading the team in that category. Spears remains limited by the Titans' overall lack of upside offensively, but he has now secured at least three catches in five straight games.
